Interview with Carola Kayen-Mouthaan
Please introduce yourself
My name is Carola Kayen-Mouthaan, I live in Holland. I’m 47 years old, I am Married. I am a Photographer for 8 years, I have my studio by my house.
How did you get interested in photography?
It’s really a passion for me, I have inherited it from my father. He created and developed his pictures him self.
Do you have an artistic/photographic background?
Don’t really have an artistic background, I learned it mostly by my self. I followed 2 workshops in fine art, one in Holland where I live and one in England.
Which artist/photographer inspired your art?
Old painting of Dutch Painters like Rembrandt and photographer Pip Bacan from England, inspired me the most. I love the old feeling and intense look of fine art it brings emotions in to the pictures.
How much preparation do you put into taking a photograph?
It takes a lot of preparation, because I love to work with real animals and fresh foods. I always make the setting before the model comes (including clothing).
Some shoots take up to 2 months because I am Seeking special accessories.
Could you please tell us something about your technique and creating process?
I always use my Canon EOS 5D Mark III, I do most of the work in Photopshop CC. For printing I love Fine art paper and canvas it gives a nice structure to the picture.
What do you do in your life besides photography?
Photography is a big part of my live. I also like to go to flea markets to look for stuff to use in my pictures together with my husband how also love to search for old stuff for my studio.
I also love to go on dressage competitions with my daughter,she rides Grand pix with her Frisian stallion and Kwpn Dutch horse, we also goes international for her competitions.
What future plans do you have? What projects would you like to accomplish?
I hope to become a great Fine art photographer, and one day I hope to have an exhibition with my one pictures, but mostly i hope that I still have as much fun and passion in my work as I do now,and bring big smiles on people faces when they look at my pictures.
