South African photographer and digital artists
The truth is that my name is not Simon Subrosa, when I started working on my art I wanted to differentiate myself from the work, but slowly and fiercely the name has become to represent who I am today much more then my original one.
Like my name, my images are not depictions of the truth; they are fantasies and obsessions, constructed myths, visions from the dark opera of my mind. Partially from this world but mostly from the smoke and mirrors of my sub consciousness.
The mythological constructs are as much Gods and Goddesses of my own inner self as they are works of personal art. My central theme for the past 6 years has been the Hieros Gamos or sacred union. A process of taming the rough seas of a fractured global psyche.
More than anything my images depict a struggle of opposites. The dichotic amalgamations of light and dark, man and woman, innocence and perversion, truth and lies.
"Simon's work skates the fine line between cutting and bleeding edge. Dark, sexy and dangerous, his art is like a trance you can't break." - CHAD MICHAEL WARD
‘’ Though Simon’s Subrosa work , you feel the loneliness of the isolated human nature, the earthly boiling colors he uses often makes you dreaming ….
A dream which starts from Africa without any destination…a never ending dream … A serious talented artist which seeks the knowledge though his art.

Simon's work is incredible. His art challenges us on an emotional level. Dreamy, dark, thought provoking, haunting. I have never seen anything quite like it.
This is the beginning. Our savoir rises out of the dust of his ancestors to procreate with erotic malformed entities. His screams erase the pulsating signals of a thousand screens. This is a realm far too impure to call heaven and much too familiar to be known as hell. These are the visions of a savage new world. The world of Simon Subrosa. Yes, this is the beginning, the beginning of great things to come.
