Mariana-Bartolomeo

I have been a professional artist for forty years working in photography, printmaking, book arts, and teaching. My art education began with The Foreign Student Study League in Florence, Italy. I have my MFA (printmaking & art history) from the University of Kansas graduating with honors and five academic awards. I had two years of residency at Holiseventh Press with Master Printer John Talleur and Genestra Press with Master Books Artist Linda Samson-Talleur. During graduate school I worked as a sports photographer, scientific illustrator and adjunct faculty positions.

My focal interest in my artwork is capturing the emotive and psychological moment. I use images & words to reconstruct memories and mystical experiences. My work is often unplanned as I search for an expression of contemplative metaphors that reflect interior life and thought. I prefer hand-crafted Alternative Methods, but also use digital means. I am guided by my imagination, memories, reflection,and the technical challenges of materials and methods.
