About

I was born in Oslo in 1965. I started with visual expressions during the 80s, first by paintings, but soon with photography. During the 90s I had a hard meeting with the darker sides of life, as a result of work with refugees in the war of former Yugoslavia and victims of conflicts in other parts of the word. After this dark period I started to question my own social and cultural identity, first as an autodidact visual artist and writer. Soon I felt a need for learning more about art and aesthetics, and started my formal education within this area when in the beginning of this millennium.

My photographic work is mainly made with traditional analog methods, where I try to tell stories about existentiality. I often use my photographs both to question social, cultural or relational codes, and tries to show meeting points between my thoughts and the outside reality. For me the process of making the photos is as important for what I want to tell as the motive, and I therefore try to let the process be a visible part of the images.
