About

Photography = Applied Quantum Electrodynamics, Lets go play with some Photons !

Photography captures the interplay between Photons and Electrons taking place in, and preserving, a moment of the electromagnetic Now. It is achieved by the union of many fields of Science and Engineering - Optics, Mechanics, Electronics, Chemistry, Mathematics and in itself becomes a tool for Science - Astronomy, Nature, Zoology, Geology, Meteorology, Biology just being a few. Science and the exploration of the Universe is my passion and it is through Engineering and Technology that I play. I conduct illustrative photography and my images come from Nature, both seen and unseen, often ignored as common, which I capture a bit differently.

A second theme here is Technology, the physics that enables technology has been fairly consistent over most of the life of the Universe, and within that, Antique Technology and, inspired by my father, Antique Railroading. My father, Howie Waelder, had a life long career with the LIRR and a passion for trains. I grew up with Railroading being a part of daily life.

My primary cameras consist of a Mamiya RB67 Pro SD, a Sigma SD14 and a SA9, plus I occasionally use a Voigtländer Bessa that my father found in Germany during WWII and a Konica Big-Mini.

Prints of my photography may be purchased from "My Print Shop".
