About Ralph Hassenpflug

I am an immigrant. My work is about Exile and Solitude.

Most of my work is in black and white. I print some of it in Platinum/Palladium or toned Cyanotypes but my focus is on the image, not the printing process.

My teachers are Arno Minkkinen, Keith Carter and Susan Burnstine. I owe them very much.

After dabbling with photography in my youth I have only taken it up again a few years ago and have shown my work in several solo and group shows across the US.

Among other venues, my work has been exhibited by the Photo Place Gallery in Vermont, the Kiernan Gallery in Virginia, the Center for Fine Art Photography in Colorado, where I have earned an honorable mention by juror Christopher James and by the Minneapolis Photo Center, where juror Susan Burnstine has regognized my work.

My first book, “The Doorway to the Temple”, a personal, photographic exploration of sacred places in Brittany, France, will be available in October 2014.
