About

Pygmalion Karatzas was born in Greece in 1973, studied architecture in Budapest and urban design in Edinburgh. Graduate of the 'Ecovillage Design Education' program organized by the Global Ecovillage Network and endorsed by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. He has been working as a freelance architect and through collaborations from Greece and abroad since 1999, designing and supervising over 20 projects. A self-taught photographer focusing on editorial architectural and fine art photography. Winner of international photography competitions (Architizer A+ 2014, World Photography Organization 2014, International Photography Awards 2014, Spider Black & White Awards 2014). His images have been featured in publications and e-zines from numerous countries, and has produced the books 'Morphogenesis' vol.1 & vol.2 available on blurb. Collaborates with arcspace.com of the Danish Architecture Centre as photo editor of 'The Camera' online gallery dedicated to architectural and fine art photography. His on-going research is towards an integral approach to architecture, sustainability and art. Based in Aigion, travels in Greece and abroad for his personal projects and commisions.
