I use this definition to select work for exhibiting: A composition must focus on the essence of the subject, not it’s supporting elements. It must be distilled to a minimalist form.
Here are some quotes about minimalism:
1. “I am a minimalist. I like saying the most with the least.”
- Bob Newhart
2. "Minimalism is the pursuit of the essence of things, not the appearance."
- Massimo Vingelu
3. "Minimalism is not a subtraction for the sake of subtraction. Minimalism is subtraction for the sake of focus."
- AberMinimal Blog
4. "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."
- Leonardo da Vinci
