My images are digital photo composites, made by combining whole photos, and are intended as visual exploration. My interest is the end result-- hopefully something I haven't seen before-- hopefully art. There is no formula to their creation, although they consist of multiple whole digital photos, layered, opaqued, reversed and manipulated using Photoshop software. Most situations are found, captured without preconception and combined later. My work is essentially non-objective, with varying degrees of abstraction. There may be four to twelve whole photos involved. I try to resist the obvious, and often encourage flaws. Two-dimensional compositions seem to work best for me, and I always create in color. Digital photo manipulation has been a fresh method of visual discovery for me, resulting in shapes, textures and color combinations that I would not have considered otherwise. There is always the surprise of discovery, the search for something unique, and the irony of making photos that may not eventually resemble photographs.
