Bernd Walz, born 1948, studied biology and chemistry and obtained his PhD at the University of Heidelberg. He worked as a scientist and professor for zoology and animal physiology for more than 35 years, the last 18 years at the University of Potsdam. He retired in 2013. Photography accompanied his whole professional life. Besides zoology and physiology he taught microscopical techniques and microphotography.
Downstream 2006 photography became a real passion, a creative and artistic counterweight to his scientific work. Recently Bernd Walz concentrated more and more on fine-art landscape and microphotography, exploring the artistic possibilities of a minimalistic approach
