About

Wendell Berry wrote, “If you don’t know where you are, you don’t know who you are.” This notion of Sense of Place–our geographic location partly defining who we are–resonates with me and is central to my photography. Because I was born and have lived my entire life in the American West, the landscapes, people, culture and values of the West have helped shape who I am today. I feel at home in the mountains and canyons I grew up exploring.

As a photographer, I continue exploring the wild places I fell in love with as a child. Through my images, I want to foster in the viewer an authentic sense of attachment and belonging to the environment. I make images of landscapes that connect me to these places; often they are intimate scenes whose beauty may not be immediately obvious to the casual observer.
